Embellishing with Shisha (Mirror Embroidery)
Explore ways to lavishly embellish with shisha, a traditional mirror work technique. This distinctive technique was first introduced to India in the 17th century during the historical Mughal Empire. Also known as abhla bharat, it is applied on daily textile items such as quilts, doorway hangings, bags and even garments. Using sequins and embroidery, participants will learn to embed shiny trinkets onto garments or fabrics.
-Bring along a heavyweight garment such as a jacket to practice shisha
-All tools (embroidery needle, thread, hoop and scissors) included
-Suitable for participants aged 8 or above; participants aged 8-12 must be supervised by an adult participant
