Artists Talk: Day Off Mo? by Alma Quinto
Alma Quinto, our artist-in- residence, invites you to her Open Studio from 2 December, 2018 until 6 January, 2019. On 2 December, Alma and the 3 collaborators who participated in Quinto’s Day Off Mo? project will hold a talk to share their experiences on researching “day off” among migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong. They are pre-eminent activists on migrant worker empowerment groups including Elpidia Abel Malicsi, designer for upcycled gowns and mentor of Domestic Worker Empowerment Program (DWEP); Cristina Cayat, designer for indigenous textiles, member of domestic worker art collective Guhit Kulay, writer for The Sun, the Filipino newspaper in Hong Kong, and volunteer for Enrich; and Marrz Saludez Balaoro, founder of FILGUYS Association Hong Kong which advocates LGBT empowerment through arts and culture.
