Patching Relationships: Decorative Mending
This workshop is inspired by Yin Xiuzhen’s practice of involving family and loved ones in her work, and also by My Clothes, her artwork made with beloved garments from throughout her life. CHAT invites participants to make together with their loved ones by learning how to decoratively mend a pre-loved garment for each other.
FashionClinic by T’s Toby Crispy will introduce 12 selected basic stitches for mending as illustrated on her Slow Stitch Nomad poster, and guide participants to use the chain and back stitch to mend and hand-stitch loving messages on pre-loved garments. Participants must bring their own garment for mending, and each participant will be given a Slow Stitch Nomad poster at the end of the session.
Invite a loved one to join the workshop and get a 20% discount!
Experience level: This activity is better suited for participants with some stitching experience but welcome beginners as well.
Material needed: Each participant will receive a Making Kit (embroidery hoop, threads, needles, tracing paper, fabric) on the day of the workshop. Participants must prepare their own pre-loved garment to mend.
Capacity: 8
