Garment Disassembly Line
An assembly line is the flow and process that determines the industrial manufacturing of a product from materials arrangement to merchandising.
At the Garment Disassembly Line, we invite visitors to reverse the production process by disassembling recycled garments collected from the community from whole garments to fabric strips and parts. By understanding the resource allocation of the textile industry, the experience shed lights on our interdependent relationship with nature. Using various craft and textile tools, participants will learn how to repurpose a piece of old textile and extend its life cycle. Larger fabric strips from the Disassembly Line will be collected for artistic creation later in the season, while visitors can make their own textile creations with the remaining fabric materials.
Facilitators consisting of different community members and CHAT team will provide on-site guidance and assistance.
Designated time slots are arranged each day for walk-in participants with limited spaces. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Experience level: No experience required. Participants below the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
