YE Funa

Ye Funa, born in Yunnan, is an artist and researcher who lives and works in London and Beijing. Her practice critically explores everyday realities and the perceived connections between authority and various societal domains, including different power structures and margin groups. Ye’s recent work incorporates new technologies and engages with various ethnic communities, developing participatory, internet-based projects and probing the integration of art systems into personal and communal spaces.

Her recent exhibitions include solo exhibitions at the 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, Sydney and Nottingham Contemporary, and group exhibitions at the Museum für Fotografie, Berlin; National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts; esea contemporary, Manchester; Power Station of Art and Chronus Art Center, Shanghai; Art Center Nabi, Seoul; and Rhizome at the New Museum, New York.

Ye currently teaches at Beijing’s Central Academy of Fine Arts and University College London’s Slade School of Fine Art. She also co-founded the independent brand ‘MondayOFF’ to edit and publish artists’ books.
