Rice Brewing Sisters Club
Rice Brewing Sisters Club (RBSC) is an artist collective established in 2018 based on the members’ mutual interest in the processes of ‘social fermentation’ as an artistic form. With an experimental and participatory practice encompassing visual arts, performance, creative writing, oral history, ecological thinking and ‘auntie’s wisdom’, RBSC seeks to build sustainable relationships and synergy to co-create shared visions of the future.
The work of RBSC has been showcased internationally, such as at Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (2024); Busan Biennale (2022); in the public programming series of the 13th Gwangju Biennale (2020); at the Asia Culture Center, Gwangju (2021); the 5th Indonesia Contemporary Ceramics Biennale, Jatiwangi (2019); and the Nam June Paik Art Center, Yongin (2019). Their major projects include Project Hashtag Holobiont Galaxy at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul (2023), Social Fermentation: Collective Writing Project (2021–); Cheopcheopdamdam at Small Art Museum, Bongpyeong (2020); and Soil-Soil-Land in Anseong (2020).
