Ready for some fun creating with nature?
In this two-day summer camp, children will draw inspiration from CHAT’s exhibition and create their personal textile pieces using natural and upcycled materials. When bringing their ideas to life, our little artists will also develop creative thinking skills and learn to care for the environment.
Day 1: Nature Discovery
Participants will learn about the plants growing at the rooftop farm of The Mills (The Deck) and how they can be made into natural colours and dyes.
– Rooftop farm tour and foraging for leaves
– Leaf pounding activity
– Natural dyeing activity at CHAT Studio
*Each participant will receive a 35 x 35 cm handkerchief to make their own nature-inspired textile piece.
Day 2: Upcycling and Sewing
At CHAT Lab, participants will use various textile materials and tools to create their own textile artworks with upcycled materials.
– Textile collage making with colourful fabrics, buttons, trims and embellishments
– Sewing the collage onto a wearable accessory (e.g. small tote bag)
Experience level: No prior experience is needed. Suitable for, but not limited to, ages 6 to 10
Materials: All tools and materials are provided
Language: English with simple Cantonese and Mandarin interpretation
