XING Zhen

Xing Zhen is the co-founder of the ‘Another Land’ project, Weave Nature Textile Studio and the Snowland Great Rivers Protection Designers Association.

She has conducted systematic studies on traditional textile techniques, including Hani bark cloth and fishing net weaving, Dai brocade, Yi felt and wool textiles, Tibetan yak fibre textiles, Jino backstrap loom techniques, Li cotton spinning and weaving, Fujian Xia fabric, Shandong Lu brocade, Guizhou Tunpu silk belt weaving, and Song brocade weaving and design.

Since 2016, Xing has been working with artists and designers to document and study traditional handicrafts at ten ethnic minority cooperatives. They also collaborate in innovative product design and craft training. In addition, Xing conducts craft workshops catering to various age groups and themes.

In 2018, she organised a weaving class at the Textile Training Center of the China Silk Museum. Since then, she has held handicraft workshops of various forms and themes for people of different ages.
